He was predeceased by : his parents, Everett Buchanan and Lillian Buchanan (Johnson); his wife June Buchanan; and his sister-in-law Nancy Wahlfeldt. He is survived by : his sons, Dr. Rick Buchanan (Cecilia), Randy Buchanan (Sharon), Ron Buchanan (Bev), Robert Buchanan (Mary) and Rodney Buchanan; his grandchildren, Melanie Mays (Kevin), Marcy Chambers (Nick), Adam Buchanan, Ben Buchanan, Kelly Garcia (Rich), Bethany Werner (Jeff), Aaron Buchanan (Kristen), Matthew Buchanan (Kim), Ashley Connally (AJ Sickelbaugh), Jay Buchanan (Ashley), Kevin Buchanan (Rachel), Paul Buchanan and Delaney Buchanan (DeAnte Milton); his brother Keith Buchanan (Joyce); his sister-in-law Bonnie Flores; his niece Esther Flores; and his caregivers, Michelle and Holly. He is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 21st 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, May 22nd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 22nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Westminster Presbyterian Church (103 E Midland St, Bay City, MI 48706).
