He was predeceased by: his parents, James Collins and Marie Collins (Tobin); and his sister Mary Beth Collins. He is survived by: his wife Ann Coburn-Collins; his children, James J. Collins, III (Julie) of Dallas, Katie Collins-Ihrke (David) of Baltimore and Claire Collins of Bay City; his grandchildren, Benjamin, Nora, Ivy, Samuel, Lora and Evianna; his siblings, Ann Collins of New York, Joanie Thomas (Jim) of North Carolina and Daniel Collins (Marie) of New York; and his brother-in-law Clay Coburn (Esther) of Kansas.
