He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo C. Laan and Lena Van Laan; his wife Phyllis K. Loehne; and his stepgrandson Jason Alvardo. He is survived by: his children, Leo C. Van Laan II (Sandra), Ross O. Van Laan (Vicky), Valerie R. Cross (Robert) and Clare P. Van Laan; his grandson Jeremy Neer (Kelly); his great grandchildren, Jack, Andrew and Brody; his grandson Andrew Van Laan; his great grandchildren, Jolene and Wren; his granddaughter Dr. Kristine Weaver (Kevin); his great grandchildren, Declan, Nolan and Arden; his grandson Benjamin Van Laan (Nicole); his great grandchildren, George, Daphne and Louis; his grandson Cory Cross (Jacqui Trillo); his great grandchildren, Theodore and Hector; his grandson Timothy Van Laan (Kristina); his great grandchildren, Stanley, Adeline and Rose Marie; his grandchildren, Carly Sargent (Tyler), Dr. Steven Cross, Shandon Williams, Emily Van Laan (Andy Weber) and Jeffrey Van Laan; and his stepgrandsons, Andrew Alvardo (Jessica), Robert Alvardo and Tony Alvardo (Grace).
Memorial tributes may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
