Ronald J. Bird Obituary
Ronald (Ron) James Bird, 72, of Bay City, Michigan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, after his courageous battle with brain cancer on Thursday, April 2, 2026. Ron was born on February 21, 1954, in Cass City, Michigan, to the late William and Norma Jean (Boag) Bird. He graduated from John Glenn High School.
Ron worked for 20 years at Case Systems in Midland, Michigan, before retiring in 2019. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and watching every sport he could. He was a loyal fan of all Detroit sports teams, with the Detroit Tigers being his favorite. However, the team he loved most was the Michigan Wolverines. If Ron wasn't watching sports, you could find him joking around, playfully picking on the kids, and making as many memories as possible with them.
Ron leaves behind his four brothers: Gary Bird, John (Dorothy) Bird, Mike Bird, and Terry (Peggy) Bird; and four sisters: Luann (Bob) Schlink, Kim (Gary) Bates, Linda (Roger) Coyer, and Bonnie Bird. He is also survived by ten nieces: Mercedes (Joseph) Thomas, Lakin (Trent) Lemuel, Loren (Thomas) Dengler, Kilee (Steven) Farmer, Jolee (Wayne) Salgat, Janelle Riselay, Kelly (Darren) Gage, Haylee (Cristian) Perolli, Baylie Bird, and Sydnie Coyer; ten nephews: Kyle (Ashley) Waters, Rodney (April) Schlink, Bobby (Ashley) Schlink, Chris (Doni) Pittman, Shawn Pittman, Gary Briggs, David (Amber) Bates, Jordan (Justine) Bird, Riley Bird, Travis Coyer, and. He also leaves behind many great-nieces and great-nephews, along with a beloved friend, Ed Osborne.
He also leaves behind his faithful companion, his dog Baloo, who was always by his side, never missing a chance to share a meal or a snack.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, William and Norma Jean Bird; his brother, David Bird; his sisters, Norma Bird and Sharon Briggs; and his niece, Melissa Deshano.
As Ronnie would always say.
