He is survived by: his parents, Robert Hellner and Joann Hellner; his wife Shannon Blair-Hellner; his child Thomas Hellner; his stepchildren, Jessica Boehmer (late T. J.), Melissa Beard (Michael), Erik Skurda (Briana) and David Shirley (Amanda); his siblings, Steve Hellner (Elsie), Deborah Didone (Charles) and Joseph Hellner; his uncle Thomas Pokladowski (Pamela); his parents-in-law, Merle and Dana Blair; his sister-in-law Stacey Miller (David); and his pet Gina Belle. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, two nieces, four nephews, a great-niece and two great-nephews.
