He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Steve and Helen Mate, Jr. (Risk); and his son Steve Mate. He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Kaye Mate (Adams); his children, William "Troy" Adams (Lydia) of Romulus, MI and Jayme Whitney of Ann Arbor, MI; his sisters, Margaret Andrzejewski (Richard) of Chicago and Rose Ison (John) of Georgia; and his pet Junior. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.
