He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Mathew and Genieve Ruth Murphy (Nicewander); his brother-in-law Wendell Zull; and his nephew Jim Zull. He is survived by: his wife Margie Porter; his children, Aaron Murphy (Jill) and Amanda Wells (Aaron); his grandchildren, Jacob, Alexis, Serenity, Trey Murphy, Austin Ball, Jakob and Kennedy Wells; his sister Charlene Zull; his niece Sharon Wixson (Jon); his nephew Stephen Zull (Kelly); his sister-in-law Vicki Porter; and his nephew Jeff Porter-Rogers (Chrystal).

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in memory of Doug may do so the Bellevue First Baptist Church.
