He was predeceased by : his parents, Harley V. Townsend and Nellie N. Townsend (Teeter); and his siblings, Dale, Charles, Buryl Townsend and Mary White.

He is survived by : his son Mark Townsend (Lynn); his wife Barb Townsend; and his daughter Sue (Ray). He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
