Alan Lee Hitz Obituary
Alan Lee Hitz of Bentley, MI passed away at the Gulf Coast Hospital in Florida at the age of 78 after a short illness.
Alan was born on September 1, 1946, in Bay City, Mi. He was the son of Theodore and Alma Hitz.
He was raised in Linwood, MI where he attended T.L. Handy High School. After graduating, he served in the Army for three years before joining the National Guard, where he dedicated another ten years. He also worked as an Insurance Inspector for 23 years until his retirement.
He married his wife Patricia Sue Gasper on June 28, 1975. Together they had 4 children Paul, Deborah, Susan and Amanda.
Alan had many hobbies, with reading being one of his greatest passions—you could often find him with a book in hand. He also loved traveling and playing golf with his wife. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandkids participate in their various activities. Known for his playful sense of humor, Alan loved to tease everyone he met. In fact, we often joked that his middle name was Trouble.
Alan is survived by his wife Pat Hitz; daughters, Debby (Shane) Ancel, Susan (Brent) Beardsley and Amanada Hitz; 3 grandchildren, Hannah Beardsley, Andrew Beardsley and Taylor Ancel; Siblings Maureen Coon, Farolyn Mullin and Jerry Hitz; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Alma Hitz; Son, Paul Hitz; Brother and Sister-in-law Charles and Kathleen (Kay) Hitz, Brother and Sister-in-law Alvin and Hilu Hitz; Sister and Brother-in-law Carol and Walter Weinlander; Sister-in-law Dena Hitz and Brother-in-law James Coon.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 6:00pm at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Standish Chapel, 127 N Forest St. Standish, MI 48658 with Pastor Reed Schroer presiding with cremation to follow. Friends and family may visit the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00am until time of service.
