He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Benson and Marcia Benson (Tendick); and his brother Mark Benson. He is survived by: his close friend Shelley Deitrich Barberino; his children, Ashley Keefer (Eric) of Bastrop, TX and Shannon Goad (Jonathan) of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren, Aly, Audrey Keefer, Kaili, Paige, Devin DeStazio, JJ and Joy Goad; his sister Milisa Johnson (Dean) of Fort Wayne, IN; his aunt Ann Benson of St. Joseph; his cousins, PJ, Anthony and David Barberino; and also Rocky Barberino.
Memorial donations in David's name may be made to Boy Scout Troop #623, St. Joseph or the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan.
