He was predeceased by: his parents, Alouch Whitfield, Sr. and Polly Mae Whitfield; his brother Moses Whitfield; his sister-in-law Hazel Whitfield; his grandson Michael Reese; his grandmother Rendie Simmons; his uncle William Montgomery; and his aunt Marie Montgomery.
He is survived by: his sister Carmen Lewis of Covert, MI.; his children, Theresa Edison (Terry), Avis Slaughter (Paul), Geri Rivers (Larry), Teneka Cohn, Eric Reese, Kem Watley and Esau Whitfield, Jr.; his grandchildren, Tashion Davis (Tim), Essence Adams, Ja'Nae Payne, Torri Reese, Kori Rivers, Aleighya Slaughter, Kai Rivers, Paul Campbell, Terrence Edison, Jr., James Edison, Larry "LJ" Rivers, Jr. and Brandon Reese; his great grandchildren, MyShion Davis, Jaddah Campbell, Paris Campbell, Parker Campbell, Tim Davis, III, Korben Dale, I'Meir Edison, Carter Edison, Isaiah Brann and Preston Campbell; and his nephew Crispin V. Whitfield.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 15th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Fellowship Baptist Church (171 N Euclid Ave, Benton Harbor, MI 49022). A celebration of life was held on Friday, August 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, August 15th 2025 at the North Shore Memory Gardens (5027 M-63, Coloma, MI 49038).
