He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Drake and Anna Drake (McAdory); and his daughter Rashunda Thompson. He is survived by: his children, Tomecca Thompson of St. Joseph, Awani Jones (Jason) of South Bend and Keenen Thompson of Benton Harbor; his stepchildren, Heather Caid of St. Joseph, Jeremy Burkett of Stevensville and Andy Burkett of Stuart, FL; and his sisters, Minerva Lassie, Dorothy Ferguson, Genette Byrd, Diane Walker (Raymond) and Kathryn Kraft. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
