She was predeceased by: her significant other Lord; her husband Donald Nugent; and her parents, Lorraine Smeltzer and Nathan Smeltzer. She is survived by: her children, Amy Nugent (Robert Smale) and Steve Nugent (Kerry); her grandchildren, Matt Smale (Jen), Daniel Nugent (Katie), Joseph Nugent (Amber), Matt Nugent (Erica), Maisie Nugent (Gabriel Gischia) and Poom Hang; her great grandchildren, Jackson, Benjamin, Amelia, Finnegan, Harrison, Patrick, Lucy, Noah, Conor and Penny; and her siblings, Doug Smeltzer (Karen) and Nina Smeltzer. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Both proud graduates of Michigan State University, they remained deeply committed to their alma mater throughout their lives, dedicating years to supporting, donating, serving on boards, and establishing scholarships to benefit future generations of students.
