He was predeceased by : his parents, Vivian Paynter (Kelto) and Walter Paynter; his son Lee David Paynter; his granddaughter Judi Paynter; his brothers, James "Tiny" Paynter and Ron Paynter; his parents-in-law, Louis "Ike" and Beverly Adams; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Flaa and Thomas Adams.
He is survived by : his former life partner Kathryn "Kathy" Adams; his wife Kathryn Paynter; his children, Kristy Recla (Paul), Craig Paynter and Kari Spaete (Luke); his grandchildren, Mason Recla (Kaitlyn), Logan Recla, Nora Spaete, Casey LaBeske (Cole), Tyler Paynter (Megan) and Amanda Paynter (Mike Lotzer); his sisters, Luetta Flaa and Ruth Ruff (David); his siblings-in-law, Sue Paynter of Vermont, Greg Adams (Barb) of Ramsay, Bob Adams of Ramsay and Rick Adams; and his grandchildren, Amber, Ben, Jake, Joey, Owen, Kaylea and Anna. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
