John C. Ebels Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John C. Ebels of Big Rapids, Michigan, who passed away on December 4, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As John departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved John. Though John may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ebels and Grace Ebels (Zuiderveen); his siblings, Shirley Mulder (Ken), Judith Goodwin (Walter) and Harold Ebels (Bernice); and his sister-in-law Joyce Shaarda.
He is survived by: his wife Muriel Jean VanderWal of Big Rapids; his children, Dawn Scott and John Ebels of Stanwood; his sister Karen VanHaitsma (Brad) of Falmouth; and his in-laws, Diane Kuipers (Sidney) of Zeeland, Nick VanderWal (Deanna) of Grand Rapids and Don Shaarda of McBain.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home (211 N Pine St, McBain, MI 49657).
