He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Hess and Celia Hess (Thompson); his son Ron Hess; and his siblings, Stanley Hess and Maxine Lutz.
He is survived by: his wife Lori Carpenter-Hess; his daughter Vicky Pendergrass (Tim); his grandchildren, Ashley Durham (Keith), Matthew Chupp (Kayla), Veronica Becker (Benjamin) and Alexandra Hess-Mathews (Dustin); and his brother Leonard Hess. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
