He was predeceased by : his parents, Alvin Hammersley and Ednamay Hammersley (Karn); his stepfather Carl Ferrier; his brothers, Frank James and Tom James; and his brothers-in-law, Albert Hurrle and Gayle Wolgamott.

He is survived by : his wife Cleta Rae Wolgamott of Bitely; his children, Trisha Aiken (Calvin) of Waterford, Michigan, Justin Hammersley (Beth) of Macomb, Michigan and Shanna Brown (Dave) of New Hudson, Michigan; his grandchildren, Connor and Cameron Aiken; his children, Kaleb, Micah, Hannah Hammersley and Charlotte Brown; and his siblings, Dennis Hammersley (Wanda), Victor Gray (Kathy) and Kathy Hurrle. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, May 7th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Amazing Grace Acres Church (762 W Woodland Park Dr, Bitely, MI 49309).
