He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen Gilson and Mary Gilson (Sporleder); and his sister Marilyn Opel. He is survived by: his children, Robert Gilson, Donald Gilson, Kenneth Gilson (Rita), Sharon Gilson and Timothy Gilson (Denise); his grandchildren, Kara, Aaron (Mary), Megan, Marissa, Shauna (Greg), Tavia (Cody), Zadon, Brea, Brandy, Justin, Janelle, Tyler (Hannah) and Sara; and his great grandchildren, Kade, Cameron, Ethan, Haven of Eli, C. J., Gavin, Garrett, Noah, Ella, Nash, Jameson, Jackson and Maddison.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church (632 S Madison St, Adrian, MI 49221).
