Diane Somsel Obituary

We bid farewell to Diane Somsel of Brethren, Michigan, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on January 16, 2026 at the age of 93. Diane touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ewald Pfeiffer and Florence Pfeiffer (Grill); her husband Bob; her sister Patricia McKinley; her grandsons, Benaiah Durant and William Durant Jr.; her son-in-law William "Bill" Durant; and her daughters, Susan "Sue" Durant and Sandra "Sandy" Shyposki.

She is survived by: her children, David Somsel (Jeanette) of Kaleva, Donald "Donny" Somsel (Maria) of Bear Lake and Sheryl "Sherry" Boucher (John) of Williamsburg; her grandchildren, Justin Somsel, Dylan Somsel, Rebecca Durant, Luke Shyposki (Julie), Megan Myers, Natalie Fredrickson (Chris), Josh Purgiel, Matt Purgiel (Kelsey), Cody Purgiel (Paige), Brian Boucher, Laura Boucher (Nick), Jamie Bey, Christie Durant, Becky Richards, Katie Kinnunen (Bill) and Jill Emens (Devin); and her son-in-law Paul Shyposki. She is also survived by several great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church in Kaleva, Big Bear Sportsman's Club in Kaleva, or to the Brethren Heritage Association.
