He was predeceased by: his parents, James Murphy and Martha Murphy (Turvey); his wife Josephine; and his siblings, Bill, Fred, Howard, Floyd Murphy, Alice Willett and Jean Huff.
He is survived by: his children, Harold Ray Murphy and Denise Herndon; his grandchildren, Eric Herndon (Jessica), Gary Herndon (Melissa), Nicole Truitt (Michael), Brandon Murphy, Tiffany Lombardo (Lance) and Stephanie Strong (John); his sister Ruth Fletcher; and his sister-in-law Letha Atkinson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
