He is survived by: his parents, Ronald Hefner and Darlene Hefner (Downhower); his wife Beth Elliott; his children, Dr. Craig Hefner (Rachel), Dr. Brianne Lewis (Kenneth) and Jennifer Wenger (Luke); his brothers, Michael Hefner (Cynthia) and Gary Hefner (Dee); and his grandchildren, Theodore "Teddy", Elliott, Adler, Charlotte "Charlie", Stanley, Leona "Lu", Louisa "Lulu" and Wenger. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Community Bible Church (7372 Grand River Ave, Brighton, MI 48114). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location.

Donations to Covenant School, where his son, Craig, serves as Headmaster, in Mark's honor are welcome.
