He was predeceased by: his parents, William J. McGonegal and Julia E. McGonegal; his in-laws, George and Margaret "Peg" Rose; his siblings, MaryAnn (Ben Schraegle) and James R. McGonegal; his brothers-in-law, William and Patrick Rose; and his nephew James Schraegle (Sabina).

He is survived by: his wife Margaret A. "Meg" McGonegal; his children, Timothy D. McGonegal (Sheena), Margaret R. "Maggie" McGonegal, Brian K. McGonegal and Maureen J. Wawsczyk (Kenny); his grandchildren, Aria, Roya McGonegal, Patrick and Claire Wawsczyk; his siblings, Patricia Struhar (late Jim), Kathleen Stablein (late Tom) and Terrance J. McGonegal (Tory); and his brothers-in-law, Robert (Sue), Timothy (Lisa) and Thomas Rose. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association.

I am Ronnie Horvath and I worked with Megan, Mickey’s wife at St. Vincent Charity Hospital, in the Department of Surgery, in Cleveland, Ohio for many years. I remember the many parties where Mickey and Meg celebrated with all of us. We had a great team and worked together well. So many years have passed, we never forget. Please know your family is in our prayers.”
