He is survived by: his father Jay Hunter of Kingsford; his sons, Douglas Hunter Jr. of Arizona, Alonzo Napelee of Kingsford, Jay Hunter of New York and Ian Hunter (Alicia) of Wilson, Michigan; his grandchildren, Alexis Harris, Damian Schwiderson and Jackson Keshick; and his siblings, Sharon Hunter of Kingsford, Gail Culpepper of Oregon, Jefferey Hunter (Debra) of Kingsford, Lori Teeple (Alexander) of Bay Mills, Angelo Sylvester of Bay Mills and Alexander Sylester of Bay Mills. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Bay Mills Cultural Center (12498 W Tower Rd, Brimley, MI 49715). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 7:00 PM and on Sunday, September 20th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
