He was predeceased by: his parents, Ile Gilbert and Mabel Gilbert (Zentmyer); his wife Dollie Ellsworth; his son Robert; and his siblings, Marjorie Choate, Charles Gilbert, MaryLou Wardwell, Carl Gilbert, Ray Gilbert and Lois North.
He is survived by: his children, Scott Gilbert of Jackson, Melissa Wrozek (Gary) of Clarklake and Jon Gilbert of Jackson; his stepchildren, Terry Crawford (Sheila) of Coldwater, Tammy Crawford of Jackson and Shelley Cole of Houston, TX; his sister Sharon Thompkins (Bill) of Clarklake; his grandchildren, Joshua Wrozek (Jordyn), Nathan Wrozek, Emily Byl (Erick), Lucas Gilbert, Miranda Gilbert and Robert Gilbert; his stepgrandchildren, Rachele Crawford, Brandon Crawford and Kierra Cole; and his great grandchildren, Oakley Wrozek, Paul Gilbert and Lenore Crawford. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
