He was predeceased by : his parents, H. P. Benton and Lizzie "Bussbee" Benton; and his siblings, Albert Benton, Wesley Benton, Myrtice Bloodworth, Ruby Loyd, Margaret Lairsey, Deoris Vinson, Marie Kirby and Evelyn Roberts.
He is survived by : his wife Betty Joyce Benton (Vermillion); his stepchildren, Tim Shonk (Maricar) of Bridgman, MI and Cindy Behrend of Bridgman, MI; his grandsons, David Shonk and Brandon Shonk; and his brother James Lewis of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
