He is survived by: his wife Louann Gardner of Buchanan; his children, Derek C. Gardner (Chanyang) of Busan and Annette G. Burkhart of Kalamazoo, MI; his grandchildren, Alexander Gardner, Benjamin Burkhart and Channing Burkhart; his stepdaughter Nicole Johnson (Steve) of St. Joseph; his stepgrandchildren, Jacob, Ben, Gabriel and Greyson; his siblings-in-law, Kay Gardner, Penny Johnson, Paula Routson, Pia Brauser (Dan), Peggy McLallin and Michael McLallin (Dianne); and also Kevin M. Burkhart of Kalamazoo, MI.

“Louann, I was so very sorry to hear of Ned's passing! He was one of my very favorite classmates. He and Ronnie were the dynamic duo when it came to so many things at Buchanan High. They were always playing the disc jockeys at our "sock hops" and always had smiles on their faces. I know he will be sorely missed by his friends and family!
