He was predeceased by: his parents, William Syrjala and Gertrude Syrjala (Kemppainen); the mother of his children Mableann Bowerman Syrjala; his children, John Robert Syrjala and Chari Lynn Aikens; his siblings, Ken Syrjala, Shirley Albright and Lorraine Buckner; his siblings-in-law, Alice Syrjala, Theresa Syrjala and Maynard Bullock; and his stepdaughter-in-law Mona Stearns.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Syrjala; his children, Cary Ann Dennany and Mark Lee Syrjala; his grandchildren, Trisha Phelps (Jeff), Robert Aikens, Michael Dennany and Elizabeth Dennany; his brothers, Richard Syrjala, Jim Syrjala (Mary) and Edsel Syrjala; his stepchildren, Anthony Stearns (Kim), Michael Stearns and Marlene Thomas (Keith); his stepgrandchildren, Amanda Loudermilk (Justin), Rachelle Wood (Nick), Erica Henley (Rod), Krista Alexander (Michael), Trevor Stearns (Shelley), Andrew Thomas (Heather McCann), Jeremy Thomas (Lindsay) and Justin Thomas (Alayna); his siblings-in-law, Linda Syrjala and Ken Albright; and his close friend Jim Ritchie. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Allen Funeral Home (9136 Davison Rd, Davison, MI 48423). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Richfield Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Baptist Church, in Bob's memory.
