He was predeceased by: his son Robert Sterk; his grandson Austin; and his brothers, Bill, Pete, Orville Sterk, Warren Hofman and Jim Gabrielse.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, Olivia Sterk, Laurie, Bob Brower, Mary, Jeff Applehof and Janet Bing; his grandchildren, Trevor, Lauren, Nolan, Tara, Ryan, Taylor, John, Staci, Jim, Hunter and Zachery; and his siblings, Ida DeVries, Marlene Sterk, Vonnie Sterk, Ann, Dave Reiffer, Frank, Verlie Sterk, Sam, Diane Sterk, Henry Sterk, Shirley, Leonard (late Jan), Gayla Gabrielse, Sue, Lee Glomski, Randy and Barb Gabrielse.
