He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Guthrie and Cynthia Guthrie (Allen); his great grandchild Shelby Lopez; and his siblings, Christine of Ernest, A. C., Essie, Bessie, Sue and William.
He is survived by: his children, Gayla DeLong (Allen) of Byron, Sheila Matthews of Clarksville, TN and Jimmy Vaughn of Farmington; his grandchildren, Kelly Burwell (Gary), Lisa Bowen (Richie), Mary Lopez (Derek), Jonathan DeLong (Loly), Jennifer Brown (Robert) and Ruth Claud (Brian); his sister Shirley Black of New Market, AL; and his close friend Don Francis. He is also survived by 20 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial Contributions in Vernon's name are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
