Chad D Coggins Obituary

Chad D. "Mongo" Coggins, known affectionately as Chad, passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2025, in Cadillac, Michigan. Born on April 4, 1986, in Flint, Michigan, to proud parents Darren Coggins and Cindy (Morris) Fitzgerald, Chad's vibrant spirit and infectious laughter brought joy to all who knew him.

Chad was a graduate of Standish Sterling High School, class of 2004, where he first showcased his remarkable talents and determination. He carried these traits into his professional life, working as a skilled carpenter with Michigan Roofing Contracting of Cadillac. His craftsmanship was not just a job but a form of expression, as he took great pride in building things out of wood, each piece reflecting his creativity and attention to detail.

An avid wrestler, Mongo's passion for the sport was undeniable. He traveled across the United States, competing in numerous events, where he was known for his intense competitiveness and enthusiasm. His wrestling family and fans admired him for his fast wit and his ability to engage a crowd, making every match memorable.

Chad's quick humor and intelligence made him a magnetic presence. He was the life of any gathering, always ready with a joke or a clever retort. His creative mind was never at rest, always dreaming up new projects or ways to make those around him smile.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Courtney (Austen) Coggins his grand puppy Iris and Tony Coggins and Haylee Coggins. His legacy continues through his parents, Cindy (Chuck) Fitzgerald and Darren (Kathy) Coggins, and his siblings, Samantha (Travis) Whitcher, Adam Coggins, Travis Coggins, Alex Coggins, Ed Fitzgerald, Cathy Sanders, and Sara Cotterman. Chad was a cherished uncle to Mariah, Laila, Aiden, Abrianna, and Garrett, and he held a special place in the hearts of his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Also, his many, many & many wrestling family and fans. His grandparents, David & Sheila Morris and David & Barb Coggins, preceded him in death.

Chad's life was a testament to the power of laughter, the strength of family, and the enduring spirit of community. He will be remembered not just for his achievements but for the warmth and love he shared so freely. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

As we bid farewell to Chad D. "Mongo" Coggins, we celebrate a life lived with fervor and a heart that knew no bounds. His story is not one of sorrow but of a journey filled with laughter, love, and the indelible mark he left on the world. Rest in peace, Chad; your legacy will live on in the lives you touched and the joy you spread.

Celebration of his life will be held Monday September 15, 2025 at Lee-Ramsay - STANDISH CHAPEL from 12 pm 5 pm with a meal following at Deep River Township Hall at 6 pm.
