She was predeceased by: her parents, Russell Armstead and Marguerite Armstead (Zuck); her husband Carl E. Nelson; her brothers, Russell Armstead and Robert Armstead; and her daughter-in-law Jolynn Nelson.
She is survived by: her children, Randal Nelson (Diane) of Cadillac, Ann Straathof of Cadillac, Craig Nelson (Den Maury) of Cadillac and Keith Nelson of Lansing; and her grandchildren, Tammy Sulik (Ken), Stephanie Eckert (Bret), Carol Blank (Ben), Amy Anderson (Brent), Jennifer Reddick, Katie Green (Jesse), Johnnie Neahr (Jeff), Avery Nelson, Adam Maury, Andrew Maury and Abby Maury. She is also survived by 18 great grandchildren.
