He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Wellman and Leatha Wellman (Hollingsworth); his former wife Nancy Marie Wellman; and his siblings, Harold Wellman, Leo Wellman and Doris Gormley.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Wellman (Ashby) of Cadillac; his sons, Tod Wellman (Nancy) and Michael Wellman (Erica) of Cadillac; and his brother Paul Wellman (Pat) of South Carolina. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.
