He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Dee and Eleanor Jane Cooley (Cowie); his wife Joyce Elaine Madole; his child Terry Cooley; his granddaughter Katie; and his siblings, Phyllis (Rich), Robert, Donna (Bill) and Jerry.
He is survived by: his daughters, Tina Alexander of Cadillac, Tammy Bilyea of Cadillac, Toni Cooley of Alpena and Alberta Barnes of Cadillac; his sister Dolores Beauman (Jerry); and his sister-in-law Judy Cooley. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several great-great- grandchildren.
