He was predeceased by: his parents, Rolan "Rollie" Calkin and Edna Calkin (Jackson); his brothers-in-law, Larry Burke, John Koneska of Terry, Jenema and Dick Crandell; his nephew Paul Calkin; and his niece Allie Crandell.
He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Burke, Kathleen Koneska, Sally Jenema, Maureen Crandel, Marcia "Marcie" Calkin (Richard Harvey), Dennis Calkin (Alice) and Mark Calkin (Kathy); his niece Tara Franklin; and his nephew Matthew Johnigan.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Ann Catholic Church (800 W 13th St, Cadillac, MI 49601). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery (1310 S Mitchell St, Cadillac, MI 49601).
Michael was able to be at his home while battling Parkinson's Disease for 5 years due to his loving care team, Marcie Calkin, Tara Franklin, and Matt Johnigan.
