Eugene will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. Friends and family will honor Eugene by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence he had in their lives. Though Eugene is no longer present, the bonds he created and the experiences shared will endure. Eugene’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew him.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Carolyn; his children, Leslie Traylor (Mark), Gregory Karrip (Sharon), Brian Karrip (Katie) and Denise Sepic (David); and his father Anthony Gilbert. He was also cherished by 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stroo Funeral Home (1095 68th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508). A prayer will be held on Sunday, October 18th 2026 at 6:00 PM and on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church (334 La Grave Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503).
Memorial contributions in memory of Eugene may be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
