He was predeceased by: his parents, Firmin Raymond Butala and Eva Marie Butala (Beauchamp); his son-in-law Rick Peterson; and his siblings, Lucille Wilmers (Roderic), Raymond, Margaret, Nancy Butala (Felicia) and Joseph Butala.
He is survived by: his wife Marlene Mary Fretter; his children, George Butala of Calumet, MI and Marie Peterson; his grandchildren, Sarah Butala, Heather Butala (Steve Pelto) and Joseph Peterson (Megan); his great grandchildren, Sophia, Amelia, Hazel, Whalen Pelto and Vincent Peterson; and his stepchildren, Kevin Clairmont (Alice) of Eau Claire, Renee Chapman (Dean) of Calumet, MI and Craig Clairmont. He is also survived by grandchildren; other relatives; and friends.
