She was predeceased by : her parents, Mary Frances Smith and William Gaines; and also, Jeremiah Jones and Stella. She is survived by : her son Sherman Flake II; her husband Sherman Flake, Sr.; her children, Jevon (Latrice), Justin (Kylee) and Samantha (Michael); her grandchildren, Seth, Kayla, Jeremiah, Jalen, Cameron and Yahdonna; her goddaughter Jordyn; her sisters, Gwendolyn and Mia (Steven); and her siblings-in-law, Bobby, Jr. (Chi-Suk), Jeffery, Leon (Monique) and Debra. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
At the beginning of the COVID pandemic, she would wait in line at food banks weekly so that she could deliver food to those who could not get out.
