He was predeceased by : his parents, Lydia Gettel (Witzke) and Vern Gettel; his siblings, Gloria Jane Gettel, Doris Lynn Nordstrom and Larry Dale Gettel; and his grandparents, Fred, Teofilge Henkel Witzke, Albert John and Amanda Binder Gettel.

He is survived by : his children, Sara Jeanne Gettel of Somerville and John William Gettel of Detroit; his siblings, Dick Gettel (Deb), Betty Hiner and June Patterson; his sisters-in-law, Julie Bordonaro (Sal), Betty Gettel and Nancy Zylema (John); and his nieces and nephews, Teri Parsell (Kip), Gina Gettel, Lori Gettel-Calery, Lynn LeBlanc (Jamie), Cari Brawley (John), Jennifer Payne (Desmond), Kristel Ziemba (Dennis), Jamie Hiner, Holly Vermaire (Brian), Teresa Hammer (Dave), Lou Bordonaro (Heather) and Clara Zidarevich (Alex).

May you be consoled and comforted as you know now your loved one is Home where eye has not seen, ear has not heard, it hasn't even entered the mind of man what God has prepared for those who love Him. Again will be with you at 11:00 when Fr. John will celebrate Mass and we will join you in your celebration of Dan. Sr. Maria”
