He was predeceased by: his parents, Clare Hanes and Marie Hanes (Odell); his brother Paul Hanes; and his siblings-in-law, L. James White, Connie Hanes and Nancy Hanes.

He is survived by: his siblings, Lee Hanes, Roland Hanes (Mickey) and Evelyn White. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
