She was predeceased by: her husband Ivan "Ike" Elzie Mitchell; her son Jerry A. Mitchell; and her brother Herman Avery. She is survived by: her son Glen Mitchell of Decatur; and her brothers, Raymond Otto Avery (Linda) of Burr Oak and James Arthur Avery (Joyce) of St. Petersburg, Florida. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
