He was predeceased by: his parents, Pieter Plantinga and Jacoba Plantinga (Kloosterman); and his siblings, George and Renska. He is survived by: his wife April Plantinga; his children, John Paul Plantinga, Mellisa Przybylinski (Jeff), Annette Sigman (Chad) and Henderika "Henny" Plantinga (Jeff Snyder); and his siblings, Pieter Plantinga (Rosemary), Dick Plantinga and Henderika Parker. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Donations in John's memory may be directed to his wife, April.
