He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Janose and Helen Ellison (Rowley). He is survived by: his significant other Joel Potter; his sisters, Patricia Hoag (Dennis) of Hudsonville and Christine Morris (Doug); his nieces and nephews, Tonya Jones (Bruce), Shane Hoag (Kylie), Sammantha Nyberg, Ian Nyberg, Anthoni Jachim (Kayla), James Jachim (Misty) and Sarah Howard (Hannah); his friend Tokuzo Nakajima (Joe); and his pet Tia (Caesar). He is also survived by his great nieces and nephews, a great-great niece and nephew, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In honor of Dan and in lieu of flowers, contributions may also be made directly to the American Cancer Society or the Michigan State Troopers Assistance Fund.
