We announce the death of Mary Ellen Riley of Cedar Springs, Michigan, who passed away on October 10, 2026, at the age of 80. Mary Ellen will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ida Wood and Harold Wood; her siblings, Dick Wood and Barb Ellis; and her grandson Joshua Grindle.
She is survived by: her husband Elwin Riley; her children, Rich Smith and Penny Grindle (Smith); her stepchildren, Ryan Riley, Craig Riley and Trina Mosher (Brian); her sister Ruthann Wood-Fenske; her grandchildren, Jennifer Closser (Jacob), Jared Grindle (Shauna), Jason Grindle and Ethan Riley; her great grandchildren, Kylee, Kayden, Kamdon Grindle, Jaelyn, Jazzlyn, Jaxton Closser, Evalynn and Clayton Grindle; and her pets, Lily and Daisy (Grumpy Cat).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Pederson Funeral Home (127 N Monroe St, Rockford, MI 49341). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 1:15 PM at 288 N Main St NE, Cedar Springs, MI 49319.
