He was predeceased by : his parents, Cecil Hallandal and Julia Hallandal (Schrah). He is survived by : his wife Shirley; his children, Robert W. Hallandal (Rebecca), Pamala S. Van Mullekom (Michael), Cynthia L. Umphrey (Richard Gibout) and David J. Umphrey (Lisa); his grandchildren, Leanna Mandeville, David Mandeville, Chloe Morgan, Hannah Ulanski, Elijah Hallandal, Alexander Hallandal, Richard Gibout, Triston Winterich and Anna Umphrey; and his great grandchild Troy Mandeville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Leader Dogs of the Blind 1039 S. Rochester Rd., Rochester Hills, MI 48307-3115 or St. Jude's 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 Arrangements have been handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
