With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Kathryn Garten of Charlevoix, Michigan, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 10, 2025 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Kathryn departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Kathryn. Though Kathryn may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Chester Ort and Muzette Ort (Gorsuch); her husband William Garten; and her sister Phyllis Whisler. She is survived by: her children, Greg Garten (Claire) of Carolina Shores, NC, Holly Kitson (Larry) of East Jordan and Debbie Janisse (Kevin) of Nashua, NH; and her grandsons, Samuel Janisse (Sierra) of Chicago, IL and Matthew Janisse of South Carolina. She is also survived by niece & several nephews.
