He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Maurer and Lena Maurer (Houck); and his sister Francis Bressler. He is survived by: his daughters, Kristen VanDalsen (Kenneth), Shannon Hansen (Israel) and Sara Shepherd (Vincent); his sister Alice Dean; his former wives, Bonnie Ferazzi and Joy Maurer; and his friends, Ray and Crystal. He is also survived by six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

“We are so deeply saddened by the News of Dar's passing. We have camped with him the past 4 years. From hunting Morel Mushrooms to night time camp fires and laughs. Dar was family to us. We looked for him every Friday night when we pulled in and were sad every Sunday when we left him. Coffee in the morning will never be the same at Coolwater Campground without him. Are Prayers are with his family as you mourn the loss of such a wonderful person. Brian and Ashley DeLoof”
