He was predeceased by : his parents, Lewis Wood and Ruth Wood (Campbell); and his son Earl Jr.. He is survived by : his wife Rosemary McConnell; his children, Cathy Godwin (George) of Alabama, Steven Wood (Tammy) of Charlotte, Mike Wood (Cynthia) of Ohio and Pat Wood (Luann) of Wyoming, MI; and his stepsons, Doug Merrill (Rita) of Olivet and Joe Merrill (Sherry) of Bellevue.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Earl Jr.
