He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Robert Harlow and Opal Sarah Benedict, Sr. (Seeber); his former spouse Gaynor F. Tomlinson; and his wife Carol Ann Young. He is survived by: his children, Bruce Young (Sue) of San Antonio, Robert Benedict III (Carol) of Chelsea, Michal Ann Enders (Bob) of Middleville, Sandra Lantis (Joseph) of Chelsea and Susan Young-Markey (Bryan) of Prescott, Arizona; his grandchildren, Tom Leedy (Ashleigh), Sarah Hardy (Justin), Nathan Enders, David Young (Summer), Christina Young, Dr. Valerie Benedict, Brian Lantis, Jason Lantis (Bekah), Sarah Kruzel (Danny), Peter Markey and Luke Markey; and his sister June Warren (Clare). He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 30th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 31st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Chelsea First United Methodist Church (128 Park St, Chelsea, MI 48118). A memorial service was held on Friday, October 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
