He was predeceased by: his parents, Ward Schell and Mary Hadi Schell; his sister Jennie Pruett; and his brothers-in-law, Ken Jesse and Jim Pruett.
He is survived by: his wife Jan (Ziegler); his children, Gina Schell, James D. Schell, David Gruner (Kelly) and Craig Gruner (Katie); his grandchildren, James W., Rebecca, Nathan, Declan, Oliver, William and Isabelle; and his siblings, Edith Fields-Ihrke, Sarah Jesse, Diane Predmore (Jim), Linda Curtis (George) and Dan Schell (Patsy). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations can be made to the National Stroke Association and Susan Mast Foundation.
