He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Stokes and Catherine Stokes (Wieden); his brother Bill; his sister-in-law Dorothy Stokes; his siblings, Peter "Sonny" Stokes and Michelle Cross; and his brother-in-law Mark Sloper.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Libby" Stokes; his children, David Stokes Jr. (Janine), Christine Miller (Ed), John Wanket (Lynette), Edward Wanket (Jodie) and Phillip Stokes; his siblings, Timothy Stokes (Yuki), MarySue Brackenbury (Richard) and Richard Stokes (Tim); and his brothers-in-law, Bill Cross and Waymon Adams. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren.
